Playwrights

At the beginning of class we played a game in which someone goes into the back room and changes 3 things about there appearance and see if the class would notice. It was actually quite fun. Marcos, Toni and myself all got a shot of being the one to change our appearance. Next, two actors, Marcos and Travonne acted out some of the 12 line dialogues that we had to do for homework. They read Marcos, Toni, and Robert Keil's play. Marcos' was about the Popsicle and the Sun, Toni's was about the phone and the charger and Robert's was about the hamburger, fries, hot sauce, buns and the soda.
Next, we all listened to instrumentals and we had to interpret who the characters, the setting and the at rise was based on the song. We listened to two different instrumentals.

Today in class as a warm up we played the "Career Day" game. This game is where the main person turns around and the entire class sees what occupation the person has and then the class has to ask the person questions about their job. The objective of the game is to get the main person to guess what occupation the have. Three people went, it was Maria who was a news reporter, Travonne who was a fire fighter, and Brook was who a D.J. It was pretty fun. Next, we chose what our playwright is going to be about. My playwright will be about a battered woman trying to leave her abusive husband and be able to provide for her 4 year old child. I am very intrigued be my topic so I'm pretty sure I will have fun writing it and not get bored. For the remainder of the class Olivia had us answer question so that we could get to know our main character better. Some of the questions were:
What do they look like?
What is their intangible want?
What are they afraid of?
How do they deal with conflict or change?
Throughout class Olivia gave us a picture of what our 1st rough draft should look like, which is due on May 3rd.
